Global Warming - Fact or another Bigfoot story
Written by Myke Reinhold, ihatemykereinhold.com
Monday, 23 June 2008

So according to Al "I need some more McD's" Gore we are all up the creek and we better hope we have a paddle. He has said that with scientific proof, Global Warming is real and we are all doomed. Really? Really?!? According to his most incredible and Oscar winning movie, Global Warming can and will strike at any time. According to Mr. Wizard himself, all of the ice will melt causing all water levels to rise and flood everyone and everything. Thank god I took those swim classes back in Minnesota when I was a kid.

Does he not understand that the world was once covered in ICE! When you lost your bid to become the first "Environmental" President, we all thought and hoped that the whole Global Warming hype would die with you. But instead you devoured millions of dollars of McD's food and are still promoting your un-proven facts. I will give you eight reasons why this political scam should be shut down:

1. Most scientists do not believe human activities threaten to disrupt the Earth's climate. More than 17,000 scientists have signed a petition circulated by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine saying, in part, "there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate." (Go to www.oism.org for the complete petition and names of signers.) Surveys of climatologists show similar skepticism.  Read rest....

HISTORIC CO2 LEVEL DATA DECEPTION
Written by Derek Tipp, Climate Science
Monday, 23 June 2008

Why do scientists who support the CO2 theory of global warming only use measurements of CO2 levels taken from ice cores to reconstruct past levels, when there are large numbers of well documented actual measurements made by scientists from as far back as 1812? The answer is in order to manipulate and deceive, according to This report by Dr. Zbigniew Jaworowski which explains that scientific measurements of CO2 levels show that between 1880 and 1940, when global temperatures increased by 0.5C, levels of CO2 increased from 290ppm to 440ppm (about 60ppm higher than today).

Between 1949 and 1970 global temperature decreased by 0.3C and the CO2 level dropped to 330ppm. Today when man-made CO2 emissions are 30 times higher than in 1980 the CO2 level is similar to that in the 1930's.

The paper referred to is essential reading for any climate realist. It is a quite shocking inditement of the establishment scientists of today. Will we ever believe a government scientist again?  Source

New Paper has Implications for Tree Ring Data
Written by Paul via Jennifer Marohasy's blog
Tuesday, 17 June 2008

A new paper has been published in the journal Nature entitled: 'Subtropical to boreal convergence of tree-leaf temperatures' by Brent R. Helliker & Suzanna L. Richter, which has implications for climate reconstructions using tree ring data.

The Abstract states:

The oxygen isotope ratio (18O) of cellulose is thought to provide a record of ambient temperature and relative humidity during periods of carbon assimilation. Here we introduce a method to resolve tree-canopy leaf temperature with the use of 18O of cellulose in 39 tree species. We show a remarkably constant leaf temperature of 21.4 2.2 °C across 50° of latitude, from subtropical to boreal biomes. This means that when carbon assimilation is maximal, the physiological and morphological properties of tree branches serve to raise leaf temperature above air temperature to a much greater extent in more northern latitudes. A main assumption underlying the use of 18O to reconstruct climate history is that the temperature and relative humidity of an actively photosynthesizing leaf are the same as those of the surrounding air. Our data are contrary to that assumption and show that plant physiological ecology must be considered when reconstructing climate through isotope analysis. Furthermore, our results may explain why climate has only a modest effect on leaf economic traits in general.

News Item: : In Memorial Of The Mann Hockey Stick
Written by Global Warming Hoax
Monday, 16 June 2008

There have been many studies refuting the science behind the both Mann's analysis of tree ring studies (which the "hockey stick" graph is based) and of the underlying tree ring studies themselves. This latest study from the University of Pennsylvania and printed in the journal Nature calls all tree ring studies in to doubt.

The Mann Hockey Stick has served as a rallying point for those that believe in Anthropogenic Global Warming. According to them this one chart clearly shows current temperatures well above normal anything we've seen in a thousand years. This is the chart made famous by Al Gore in the Inconvenient Truth and in the 2001 IPCC Third Assessment Report (it was taken out of the 2007 report).

Cooler climate for Rudd
Written by Christopher Pearson, The Australian

FREEMAN Dyson is a polymath. His first career was as a Cambridge mathematician.

Then he developed an interest in quantum mechanics and nuclear physics. He's also something of a futurologist, an authority on nuclear non-proliferation issues and a gifted explainer of science to general audiences.

For 40 years his day job was as a professor of physics at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. Another claim to fame is that he's one of the most eminent scientists among the growing band of global warming sceptics.

To its credit, The New York Review of Books numbers Dyson among its stable and in its June 12 edition has published a fascinating review by him of two climate science books.

A Note on Temperature Anomalies
Written by Tom Quirk, via Jennifer Marohasy Blog
Wednesday, 11 June 2008

One of the most vexing things about climate change is the endless debate about temperatures. Did they rise, did they fall or were they pushed? At times it seems like a Monty Python sketch following either the Dead Parrot or the 5 or 10 Minute Argument.

However it is possible to see some of the issues by looking at the correlation of the five temperature series that are advanced by the uppers or the downers.

The five groups are:
1. GISS, The Goddard Institute, home of James Hansen,
2. NCDC, The National Climate Data Center, a part of NOAA (as is GISS), the National Oceanographic and Atmosphere Administration.
3. BMO/UEA, The British Meteorological Office and the University of East Anglia.
4. UAH, The University of Alabama, Huntsville, home of Roy Spencer with his colleagues including John Christy of NASA and
5. RSS, Remote Sensing Systems in Santa Rosa, California, a company supported by NASA for the analysis of satellite data.

Study of Glacial Earthquakes Shakes Up Idea of How Ice Streams Move
Written by innovations report
Monday, 09 June 2008

New research that integrates seismic recordings with Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements indicates that a 7,000-square-mile region of the Whillians Ice Stream in West Antarctica moves more than two feet twice every day in an earthquake-like pattern equivalent to a Magnitude 7 temblor.

The findings were published in this week's edition of the journal Nature by a group of scientists that includes investigators from Washington University in St. Louis, Penn State University and the University of Newcastle in Great Britain. The National Science Foundation (NSF) funded the U.S. researchers.

Seismologists use the magnitude scale to describe the seismic energy released by an earthquake. An earthquake measured at between 7.0 and 7.9 on the scale is considered "major," and can cause serious damage over large areas in populated regions of the world. Not including the events described in the new findings, there are an estimated 20 such quakes worldwide each year.
