Update on Denver's "Green" DNC Convention
Written by Greg Pollowitz, Planet Gore
Wednesday, 30 July 2008

Here's a report that Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport, the small airport that serves corporate and private jets in the Denver area, is preparing for the huge influx of those arriving for the convention by private jet:

BROOMFIELD, Colo.— Denver AirCenter, Denver’s executive FBO located at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport, is busily preparing for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Denver this August. The DNC is expected to bring thousands of travelers to the area, many of whom will arrive on private and corporate aircraft that will land at Denver AirCenter.

The FBO, or fixed based operator, has established a DNC private air travel hotline at 800-525-8139 to field travel and planning questions from people coming to the convention via private, corporate and charter aircraft.

Denver AirCenter is also staffing up to ensure the seamless delivery of the concierge-level passenger and pilot services for which the FBO is known.

“We are anticipating an influx of aircraft looking for the closest landing spot to DNC activities and downtown Denver come August,” said Laura Turner, general manager. “No other airport offers a quicker trip to downtown Denver. We know that busy conventioneers will appreciate that the drive between Denver AirCenter and the DNC is much faster than traveling on the clogged routes between other airports and downtown.”

So much for going green and flying commercial.   Source

The Opposite of Progress

"I have come to the conclusion, that one useless man is a Disgrace, two are a law firm and three or more are called a Congress."--John Adams, "1776"
"Just 12% of voters think Congress has passed any legislation to improve life in this country over the past six months. . . . The majority of voters (62%) say Congress has not passed any legislation to improve life in America."--Rasmussen Reports, 2008

Why is Congress so unpopular? Because it is often intent upon doing things that will make life in America much worse.

The most important example is continued blockage of access to America's energy resources. No new nuclear power plants have been permitted in decades; no new oil refineries; no additional drilling off the coast of Alaska, California, Florida or parts of the Gulf of Mexico where there are huge amounts of useable energy; and continuing opposition to building liquefied natural gas facilities.

Green Obama's Carbon-Fueled Trip
Written by Henry Payne, Planet Gore

Globe-trotting Obama meets global-warming Obama.

Last week, after Al Gore’s call to wean America from the scourge of carbon fuels in ten years, the Chosen One praised the Goracle for awakening “the conscience of a nation to the urgency of this threat. I strongly agree with Vice President Gore that we . . . must fast-track investments in renewable sources of energy like solar power, wind power ,and advanced biofuels, and those are the investments I will make as president.''

Well, not too fast a track. This week, Obama was happily reaping the benefits of efficient carbon fuels as he criss-crossed the world enlightening the masses.

Pelosi: I'm working with Evangelicals
Written by Jim Brown, OneNewsNow

A conservative commentator thinks House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s purported effort to work with evangelical activists on common goals of fighting global warming and helping the poor is politically savvy, yet unfortunately a sham.

Speaker Pelosi (D-California) recently told liberal bloggers at the Netroots Nation Conference that she "work[s] with Evangelicals to protect God's creation" and fight poverty. But Matt Lewis, a contributing writer for TownHall.com, believes that claim is deceptive. He believes liberal advisers and consultants have made a concerted effort to find a way to position liberal politicians like Pelosi as if they are "pro-family or pro-Christian."

Pelosi's Price
Written by Investor's Business Daily
Wednesday, 23 July 2008

Congress: Americans expect and need a Speaker of the House who offers common-sense leadership to direct bipartisan legislative action. Nancy Pelosi is not up to that task, and our nation is the loser.

It's bad enough that Rep. Pelosi refuses to embrace reality, evaluate facts and oversee meaningful debate. But the hissy fits she throws against President Bush and the Republican minority are worse yet. This is a sad situation.

Pelosi's reaction to Bush's lifting of the ban on offshore drilling is a perfect example. She called the action a giveaway of "more public resources to the very same oil companies that are sitting on 68 million acres of federal lands they've already leased."

The key phrase is "public" resources — not Democratic resources or Pelosi's resources — and polls clearly show Americans are behind coastal drilling. The speaker knows that.

Boxer’s Erroneous Assertions on Defeated Global Warming Bill
Written by Marc Morano, U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Minority Committee
Tuesday, 22 July 2008

Senator Barbara Boxer implied that the money raised by the now defunct Lieberman-Warner global warming cap-and-trade bill would have gone back to American consumers and Boxer further claimed that 54 Senators were prepared to move the global warming bill forward in June 2008.

FACT: Proponents of the Lieberman-Warner bill alleged that Americans would get $800 billion in tax relief over the next 40 years.  The trouble is, the bill would have taken $6.7 trillion in order to fund the $800 billion.  That’s one dollar back for every $8 put in.  Only in Washington DC would that be considered a good return on investment.

Boxer’s claim that supporters of Lieberman-Warner had the support of 54 U.S. Senators for the Climate Tax Bill does not add up. Directly contradicting Boxer’s assertion is a letter signed on June 6 by ten Democratic Senators explicitly stating they “cannot support final passage” of the Climate Tax Bill. The letter indicates that Boxer would apparently only have had at most 45 votes today to support final passage of the bill. (Democrat Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who was absent for today’s vote, had previously voted against bringing the bill to the floor on June 2.)  Source
