If you do the crime, then you'll do the time. I'm busy saving the world!
Did you see the news item about Al Gore’s speech this week in which he urged “civil disobedience” to stop the construction of coal-fired plants to meet our nation’s growing need for more electrical power?
Gore epitomizes what I suspect future generations will call “The Great Global Warming Hoax”, but in the meantime, he is able to generate the bogus science and anti-energy propaganda that is at the core of environmental ideology.
If it is possible, Great Britain is infected even worse with this idiocy. In early September, a jury hearing a case in which thousands of dollars of damage had been perpetrated against a coal-fired power station decided that the six people involved had a “lawful excuse” to vandalize the Kingsnorth power station in Kent because global warming posed an even greater threat and the plant was contributing to it.

We still need to study nature’s contribution to trend
Recent studies by the Hadley Climate Research Center (UK), the Japan
Meteorological Agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration, the University of East Anglia (UK) and the University
of Alabama Huntsville show clearly that the rising trend of global
average temperature stopped in 2000-2001. Further, NASA data shows that
warming in the southern hemisphere has stopped, and that ocean
temperatures also have stopped rising.
The global average temperature had been rising until about
2000-2001. The International Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) and many
scientists hypothesize rising temperatures were mostly caused by the
greenhouse effect of carbon dioxide (CO2), and they predicted further
temperature increases after 2000. It was natural to assume that CO2 was
responsible for the rise, because CO2 molecules in the atmosphere tend
to reflect back the infrared radiation to the ground, preventing
cooling (the greenhouse effect) and also because CO2 concentrations
have been rapidly increasing since 1946. But, this hypothesis on the
cause of global warming is just one of several.

Author Michael Crichton
In 2004 author Michael Crichton published “State of Fear,” a novel
that he uses as a platform to attempt to debunk global warming alarm.
Whether or not one finds Crichton’s arguments compelling generally
governs how someone might characterize his views on environmentalists
and environmentalism. But Crichton, in his own way, is himself an
environmentalist. Having obtained a transcript of a recent speech by
Crichton on environmentalism, what follows is our synopsis of some of
the key points he makes:
“DDT is not a carcinogen…the DDT ban has caused the deaths of tens of millions of poor people…”
“Second hand smoke is not a health hazard and never was.”
“The evidence for global warming is far weaker than its proponents would ever admit.”

Christopher Monckton of Brenchley replies to a True Believer in the Canadian Civil Service.
Dear Sir Humphrey -
The "Abundance of scientific statements" that you mention as
justification of your belief in 'global warming' is no sound or logical
basis for deciding or believing anything. The question is whether the
scientific statements have any rational justification, and whether
those making them are in effect making statements that are political
rather than scientific, rent-seeking rather than objective. After all,
this is the age of reason (or it was). Therefore, one should not accord
to "scientists" the status of infallible high priests merely because
they mumble a hieratic language with which one is unfamiliar. There is
clear, compelling evidence that many of the major conclusions of the
IPCC, your new religion's constantly-changing Holy Book, are based on
evidence that has been fabricated. The "hockey stick" graph that
purported to abolish the mediaeval warm period is just one example. So
let me try to lure you away from feeble-minded, religious belief in the
Church of "Global Warming" and back towards the use of the faculty of
reason.

That white stuff you see is water vapor. CO2 is odorless, colorless, and invisible.
Carbon Dioxide Auction Launches U.S. Effort to Combat Climate Change
Power plant owners and speculators yesterday bid for the right to emit carbon dioxide (CO2) as part of a new multistate government program designed to reduce global warming pollution. Interested parties during an online auction offered at least $1.86 per ton of CO2 emitted; there were 12 million allowances (one per ton) to emit climate change–inducing CO2 from power plants in eastern seaboard states from Maine to Maryland available in a market known as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI, pronounced "Reggie.")
"When your job can provide some social benefit it's exciting and it
makes me proud. My kids are saying 'Dad, you've done something about
global warming,'" says Phil Adams, president of Worcester, Mass.–based World Energy, Inc., the company that ran the auction. "RGGI is taking a historic step."

Why didn't Gore join the 14 protesters in Wise County, Va., blocking construction of a coal-fired plant? No runway landings for his private jet?
Speaking at the annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New
York Wednesday, former vice president and climate activist Al Gore
called for “civil disobedience” to stop the construction of
conventional coal-fired power plants.
Here’s what he said, according to Reuters :
“If you’re a young person looking at the future of this
planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I
believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil
disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not
have carbon capture and sequestration,” Gore told the Clinton Global
Initiative gathering to loud applause.

Mainlining oil will have serious consequences to your health
A recent
advertisement by the Al Gore backed we-can-solve-it-dot-organization
closes with the claim that it has been “approved” by “the American
people.” No, it hasn’t. Count me out. I demand it.
The
reason is contained in the very text of the ad. It opens with a child
playing with building blocks, and says, “The solution to our climate
crisis seems simple; repower America with wind and solar.”
(Emphasis mine) “Seems” is a great word for Mr. Gore’s message. It
does seem quite simple to think that all we need to do is build more
solar collectors and wind farms, and viola! Energy independence! That
seems wonderfully simple. And the “we/me” simply has to demand it, and
it will be so.

I used Global Warming to create new taxes, and now I want more money for the big freeze. Ha ha!
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick urged Congress on Thursday to provide
more money for what are expected to be record home heating bills this
winter, saying sharp increases in energy prices and the tumultuous
economy are affecting many families, not just the poor.
Patrick
met with members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation to
discuss energy assistance and other issues. He also testified before a
House panel on the need for heating aid in cold-weather states.
"What's at stake is the real possibility that many citizens in the
colder regions of this country will be at risk of freezing to death
without federal help," the governor told a hearing of the Select
Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.
Patrick said uncertainty about how cold this winter will be makes it harder to predict how much fuel aid will be needed.

The AP covers the new reports of rapidly increasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere:
The world pumped up its pollution of the chief man-made
global warming gas last year, setting a course that could push beyond
leading scientists’ projected worst-case scenario, international
researchers said Thursday.
The new numbers, called “scary” by some, were a surprise because
scientists thought an economic downturn would slow energy use. Instead,
carbon dioxide output jumped 3 percent from 2006 to 2007.
That’s an amount that exceeds the most dire outlook for emissions
from burning coal and oil and related activities as projected by a
Nobel Prize-winning group of international scientists in 2007.

As I drive through rural Orange
County, I like to soak up the beauty and serenity of the dairy and beef
cattle that graze the farmland's rolling hills. Now and then I pull
over to relax and enjoy the view.
Imagine my shock at learning
I've been admiring a way of life that some believe is killing the
planet. That's the conclusion of the Livestock, Environment, and
Development Initiative (LEAD), an organization supported by groups such
as the World Bank, the European Union, and the U.S. Agency for
International Development.
In its report, "Livestock's Long
Shadow," LEAD concludes livestock farming and farmers are making a
"very substantial contribution" to, among other things, climate change
and air pollution. The report warns about estimates that over the next
40 years, global production of meat will double, and production of milk
will increase substantially as well.

Environment: The solar wind is slowing, but Al Gore is still
spewing hot air. The Oscar winner is promoting civil disobedience to
stop energy and economic growth as the first U.S. emissions
cap-and-trade program begins.
Speaking before Bill Clinton's Global Initiative, junk science
advocate Gore called on young people to take the law into their own
hands because the climate, he claims, is a-changin'. He told the
gathering in New York City that "the world has lost ground to the
climate crisis" and the time for action is now.
"If you're a young person looking at the future of this planet and
looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we
have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to
prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon
capture and sequestration," Gore said to loud applause.
His comments come two weeks after a British jury acquitted six
Greenpeace activists accused of causing property damage at a power
plant. The jury felt the "protest" was acceptable because the
"protesters" feared the plant would contribute to global warming.

This is a great video. Highly recommended viewing.
One of the subjects covered are the ideas of Julian Simon (one
of our heroes), which Bjorn Lomborg enthusiastically agrees with and
inspired him in his research which resulted in his book, The Skeptical Environmentalist. For those unfamiliar with Simon, his grand idea was:
