The Nebraska Field Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service issued its latest weekly Crop Progress and Condition Report out Monday afternoon. According to the USDA report, Nebraska ag producers got at it early last week before storms chased them out of the fields at the end of the week.

As a result, Nebraska corn planting at 31% complete as of Sunday is just two points behind last year at this time, though 16 points behind the average. Lingering cold temperatures have severely limited corn emergence, however, which is still less than one percent as of Sunday.

And last week's storms, which brought snow and freezing conditions to western Nebraska, caused winterkill in some alfalfa stands and is forcing some sugar beet producers to re-plant, USDA said. Nebraska soybean planting, meanwhile, is at 3% complete as of Sunday.

USDA added that Nebraska wheat conditions continue to improve. 66% rated good-to-excellent as of Sunday.  Source
