Under the banner of communism, socialism, fascism and nationalism, there never seems to be a shortage of those who want to force their ideas on others. Now we have a new "ism," which has taken on global proportions, and may prove to be the ultimate excuse for trying to create another new world order. Environmentalism is the "perfect storm" for the 21st century and for the believers who see global warming as a doomsday scenario, it is a mandate to force the rest of us to conform. As this irrational movement grows, it can only be a matter of time before ambitious leaders and governments attempt to make this agenda a lifestyle we can't refuse. This isn't simply a political movement, it has all the trappings of a religious experience, a crusade to save "Mother Earth." Czech President Vaclav Klaus recently stated that radical environmentalism is the largest single threat to individual freedom, free market economies, and democracy. The appealing aspect of this ideology is that it welcomes all regardless of political affiliation. Both McCain and Obama are global warming advocates and Congress is filled with Republicans and Democrats who seem willing to let our economy go down the tubes to protect and advance this "Green" agenda. To add fuel to the fire, our children are being educated to believe America is destroying the planet and that we must accept drastic measures to alter our destructive lifestyles. The current gas crisis is a direct result of policies which have been implemented in the name of the environment. Government has blocked oil exploration and drilling at every turn, which has lowered our domestic production to nearly half of what it was 20 years ago. We can't drill off our own shores in areas we know contain vast quantities of oil and natural gas. We are no longer a government of the people. We are a people who need to be regulated and managed by activist politicians and intellectuals who have "tasted the Kool-Aid" and recognize its potential for power. With more than 70 percent of the American public saying drill now and end this self-inflicted crisis, Congress says no. Anyone who remotely understands the free market system knows that price is determined by the availability of the product. Step up domestic production, create more product and the price will come down. But this isn't totally about economics or oil, it is about controlling how we all shall live. We had a warm-up to intrusive government when Franklin Roosevelt was president. Until the Supreme Court declared his National Recovery Act unconstitutional, FDR had tried to assume extraordinary powers during an economic crisis. He intended to dictate oil production, implement import restrictions, price regulations and rationing. Unless we speak out this crisis may turn into an economic disaster and become the excuse for taking away freedom in the name of the planet. You say it can't happen? I would argue that the process is already underway. Source 3.26 Copyright (C) 2008 Compojoom.com / Copyright (C) 2007 Alain Georgette / Copyright (C) 2006 Frantisek Hliva. All rights reserved." |
