Most of the Global Warming Prophet Profiteer's new riches come from his 'work' promoting the global warming fear fest.

It's a common tactic for warming believers to dismiss skeptical scientists that may have received a grant (at any time) from 'Big Oil' or any of the other myriad 'bad industries'.    For a particular example of the twists, half-truths and misdirections used to taint scientists by linking them to money, see the pdf here.

Believers claim that if a skeptic ever took 'tainted' money that their research is also tainted, biased and agenda-driven and not to be 'believed'.

Considering that some skeptical scientists have had their work damned by the zealots as biased and agenda driven for as little as a few thousand dollars, it's fair to suggest that Al Gore's burgeoning fortune leads him to be partisan, agenda-driven and biased.

I've been referring to the global warming hoax recently, I may have to change the descriptor to 'scam'.
