In an online interview on Slate and on CNN’s “American Morning” former vice president and Nobel Laureate Al Gore addressed – and dismissed – the Climategate email scandal that rages. In doing so however, he appears to have failed to have actually studied the emails enough to accurately portray their contents.
In the interview on Slate, Gore was asked about the damage and fallout from the release of thousands of emails from the world’s top climate scientists. Gore responded, “I haven't read all the e-mails, but the most recent one is more than 10 years old. These private exchanges between these scientists do not in any way cause any question about the scientific consensus.”
In response to two related questions about the scandal, Gore referred to the event as being about, “an e-mail exchange more than 10 years ago” and “this discussion over 10-year-old e-mails.”
Unfortunately for the former vice president, in an effort to downplay a significant event, he misstates the age of the messages by far. Some of the emails in the archive were from as recently as just last month and many were from within the past year.
His handlers apparently did not brief Gore on these facts before he appeared on CNN this morning where he again mentioned “private emails more than 10 years old” and a second time called the messages, “emails from long ago.”
Host John Roberts, to his credit, was quick to correct Gore saying that, “many are far more recent than that.” Gore did not respond.
Natural disasters are one of Gore’s favorite topics as he tries to equate their occurrence with global warming. He again brought up the topic this morning saying, “we've had these record storms, record droughts, floods, giant fires, unprecedented.” Many wonder why he continues to belabor this point when he has had to pull an incorrect slide from his presentation that tried to state this and recent data shows that in fact there has been no greater occurrence of weather related disasters.

Another oft-related point Gore discussed was the pine beetle epidemic in the Rocky Mountains. He said, “The evergreen trees across the American West are dying because the warming trend is making them vulnerable.” This is contrary to current analysis which shows that while man is responsible, it isn’t global warming that is the cause.
Roberts overall challenged Gore on a number of points, specifically about alternative energy sources, their limitations and the debate about nuclear power. By the end of the interview the former vice president appeared to be a bit rattled.
Gore is the author of the book and movie “An Inconvenient Truth” which caused waves in the debate about manmade climate change as he sought to portray a world gone awry from global warming. The book and movie were heralded by alarmists but panned by skeptics. Those who doubt man’s effect on the climate were able to find a number of significant errors in the works that led to a British court ruling identifying them.
He has just released a new book titled “Our Choice” which dovetails on his previous works and purports to portray solutions to the climate crisis. Once again however, skeptics were given a chuckle when the cover of the book was analyzed and discovered to have many notable inaccuracies.

Al Gore's greed and lies are destroying the reputation of the party from the outside. On the inside it is being ripped apart by a socialist totalitarian regime that are abusing Obama's inexperience.
There is no such thing as a half truth with Climategate. In months to come we must not forget this. You do not make proposals to fix a fraud, you eradicate it and those that are responsible are punished.
Al Gore and a few others have effectively destroyed Obama's reputation.
