JONATHAN Holmes, the ABC's official judge of "good" journalism, is cross that the sceptics are winning.
Or one sceptic, I should proudly say.
Holmes, host of Media Watch, cannot understand why the public is no longer buying the sermon preached so hard and long by good journalists: that the world is heating to hell and it's our fault.
On the ABC's new blog site, Holmes, a warming worrier himself, claims "the vast majority" of scientists are warmists, but are suddenly too intimidated to argue their case publicly.
As a result, "the most compelling public arguments for the reality of global warming have been made by people who aren't themselves climate scientists: people like former US vice-president Al Gore, or mammal palaeontologist Tim Flannery, or public intellectuals like Robert Manne.
"But Al Gore is a long way away, and Flannery's been pretty quiet of late."
Holmes mourns that Leftist writers have the right attitude but no facts to inform it: "Our Left-wing columnists, like Phillip Adams and Mike Carlton, have no pretensions to detailed knowledge of the science. Our environmental and science journalists largely stick to news reporting and avoid advocacy (sic!).
"What we don't have in Australia - have never had - is ... a journalist with the same access to the mainstream as Andrew Bolt, who has made it his or her business to be as thoroughly on top of climate change science ... "
I'm flattered, but Holmes is kidding himself. Warmists have for years had unrivalled access to the mass media. Even better, they've had their cause taken up by the most powerful outlets.
Earth Hour was sponsored and promoted by Fairfax newspapers. News Ltd papers demanded we give the planet the "benefit of the doubt", and introduced in-house carbon dioxide reduction schemes.
The ABC fiercely pushed warming alarmism, and Channel 10 ran specials warning the planet could explode into a fireball if you didn't cycle more.
Every newspaper environment reporter pumped out warmist scare stories about polar bears and collapsing glaciers, and Sky News still has a weekly program to preach the green gospel.
So rare were public sceptics after years of this that 18 months ago the Chaser team put up a map of Australia in their stage show with a pink dot over the habitat of the last one - me.
Even now, name one sceptical scientist who has been interviewed by the ABC or Age so often and lovingly as, say, Tim Flannery. Or Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, another alarmist with a record of dud predictions.
Name one television program that's fact-checked the serial exaggerator Al Gore the way the ABC has repeatedly tried to wrongfoot sceptic Lord Monckton this past month.
Instead, Flannery was made Australian of the Year to help him in his preaching. Could a sceptical scientist, whether Ian Plimer, Bob Carter, Aynsley Kellow, Stewart Franks, Peter Ridd, William Kininmonth or Garth Paltridge, even dream of such a pulpit?
It's only in these past few months that some media outlets started checking the gospel they once preached, only to discover fraud, cherrypicking, exaggeration, collusion, inventions, hiding of data and vested interests.
If these flaws in the warmist case did not exist, I'd have had nothing to write - and the public would not now have such good reasons to be sceptical.
Facts are what's turning this debate around, and no green Andrew Bolt will stop it.

WINNING? It's not about winning it's about truth, and the alarmist cult doesn't know what that is anymore, they deny the science and make it up as they go now, LIES all of it. So for the AGW Alarmist it's about winning, Winning what? Winning easy grant money, power, control, and prestige? Is this just a game you the warmest to see how much control they can get over every facet of the globe? In my opinion it sure looks that way.
We will just have to wait until the climate change trials begin and they will begin. A lot of companies have been harmed by the falsified global warming conspiracy while people like Al Gore profited millions of dollars on the lies he perpetuated. "The science is settled" was a deliberate attempt to conceal the fraud and it nearly worked except for the collective scepticism of mankind.
Rudd will sink with the ETS just like Howard did with Work Chances (sorry, Choices)
Abbot was right first time It is crap!
